As a co-founder of Black Fox Group David brings over 35 years of experience to bear in a wide range of roles.
David leads on all Black Fox Tax Compliance and Tax Planning projects.
Initially trained by KPMG David completed his Chartered Accountancy and Chartered Tax Adviser qualifications covering Auditing, Accounting and Private taxation. A period at Grant Thornton expanded his experience to cover Corporate taxation including Transfer Pricing, Share Schemes, Succession planning and wider complex International Group Taxation.
A final stint in the larger firm world culminated in David becoming a Tax Partner at PwC with local and national roles dealing with larger and more complex Transaction tax planning for the larger Private Equity houses.
After helping to establish and grow a regional full-service accounting and tax firm from 5 individuals to approaching 50 employees David, with his co-founder Susan Thomas-Walls decided to establish The Black Fox Group.
Their mission is to establish a new, modern and forward-looking Accounting, Tax and Advisory group where every member of the team has a voice in creating an environment of excellent client service and a fun place to work.
Outside of work David loves travelling, attending music concerts of any genre, visiting the Theatre whenever time allows, and spending time in Wales, renovating the family farm and watching his grandchildren grow up.
Susan, co-founder of Black Fox Group, is a dynamic force with over 25 years of experience in Audit and Accountancy, bringing unmatched expertise to every role she undertakes. At Black Fox, she spearheads the Auditing, Accounting, and Advisory services, ensuring top-tier delivery for the firm's diverse clients.
Susan's journey began at Moore Stephens in Birmingham, where she earned her Chartered Accountancy Qualification in 2002 and ascended to Fellowship status in 2012. Her career path took her through mid-sized firms in the Midlands, before she boldly stepped into a Financial Controller role at a specialist manufacturing company with international reach. This hands-on experience from the client's perspective sharpened Susan's ability to deliver practical, client-focused solutions.
After playing a pivotal role in expanding a regional accounting and tax firm to nearly 50 employees, Susan, alongside co-founder David Thomas-Walls, launched The Black Fox Group—a venture driven by their shared vision of excellence.
Susan's passion lies in delivering efficient, client-centric, and high-quality services while cultivating a thriving team that loves what they do and feels integral to the firm’s success.
When she’s not leading her team, Susan enjoys quality time with her beloved Labradors, Reggie and Bailey, and finds peace in her garden and the picturesque countryside of rural Staffordshire.
With nearly three decades of experience in accountancy, audit, and financial reporting, Sanjay is the Director of Audit and Accounts at Black Fox Group. He holds the FCA qualification and a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Leeds.
Sanjay manages a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from small owner-managed businesses to UK subsidiaries of listed international groups, across sectors such as property, construction, stockholding, manufacturing, and consultancy. His responsibilities include coordinating, planning, and overseeing the preparation of statutory accounts, tax compliance, and financial audits, as well as providing ad hoc services and advice. He specialises in audits of SMEs and owner-managed businesses, audits of group companies, consolidation of group accounts, cash flow forecasting, management accounting, and one-off accountancy investigations. Additionally, he handles statutory company secretarial matters.
Sanjay prides himself on offering a friendly and approachable service, communicating in plain English, and delivering high-quality, timely results for his clients.
Outside of work, Sanjay has a diverse range of interests that bring him joy and fulfilment and keep him balanced and engaged. He is a passionate Formula 1 enthusiast, closely following the races and keeping up with the latest developments in the sport. Sanjay also enjoys working with LEGO, finding it both creative and relaxing as he builds intricate models and sets. His home office wall is adorned with his creations!
Family is a central part of Sanjay's life, and he cherishes spending quality time with his wife and children, creating lasting memories together. He also loves to travel, exploring new cultures and destinations, which inspires his creativity and broadens his horizons. These interests not only enrich his personal life but also contribute to his professional growth and perspective.
Stuart is Chairman at Black Fox Group. Having started his tax career at HMRC Stuart moved into the profession after 8 years, joining Coopers & Lybrand in Glasgow. A senior partner at PwC, Stuart led the Midlands tax business and the national Tax Compliance function.
Since retiring from PwC Stuart has served as Executive Chairman at Prydis Group and as NED at Scottish premiership football club, Heart of Midlothian FC. Stuart now holds a number of Director roles and in his spare time pursues his passion for family, golf and following Heart of Midlothian FC across Europe.
After graduating from University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) with a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance in 2015, Tim went on to study for his ACCA qualification and became qualified in 2019 and later obtaining the FCCA qualification.
Tim undertakes a wide range of assignments ranging from preparation of financial statements of small-owner managed businesses including tax compliance through to audits of medium sized multi-national groups including consolidation of group accounts. Tim has experience in dealing with a wide range of sectors such as manufacturing, construction, property and consultancy. Tim also prepares quarterly VAT returns for clients along with having experience of bookkeeping of various different software as well as providing ad hoc services and advice to clients where needed.
Tim builds strong relationships with his clients by offering an approachable and efficient service to ensure they receive outstanding service that is suited to their needs.
In life outside of work. Tim has a keen interest in sports including football and is an avid Manchester United supporter through the highs and, more recently, many lows! Tim also follows other sports such as cricket and Formula 1. Tim also enjoys going for countryside walks with his partner and Cockapoo from time to time to escape the hustle and bustle of day to day life.
Tamara moved over from Gibraltar over a decade ago to continue with her studies. She obtained a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) and shortly after obtained an MSc in International Accounting and finance from Bournemouth University. Upon completion of her university studies, she remained in the UK and worked towards her ACCA qualification, achieving her qualified status in 2020.
Tamara has experience in dealing with clients across a wide range of sectors such as property, manufacturing, construction and consultancy. Her responsibilities include undertaking various tasks which range from bookkeeping, preparation of quarterly VAT returns, the preparation of statutory accounts of SMEs including tax compliance through to financial audits of medium sized multi-national groups, including consolidation of group accounts. Tamara also helps to provide other ad hoc services and advice where needed and is always willing to help and assist with clients needs as and when required.
Outside of work, Tamara has a diverse range of interests that creates a good and healthy work life balance. She has a passion for baking and sees baking as a form of relaxation where she immerses herself into a baking bubble. No bake is too much of a challenge! Along with baking, travelling is another passion of hers, she enjoys exploring new destinations and embracing the different cultures around the world. Tamara also enjoys going on long countryside walks with her partner and her hyper-active cockapoo.
Saffron joined the Black Fox team as a Tax Consultant in January 2025, following several years in tax compliance and a year and a half in tax advisory. She brings extensive experience in managing personal tax affairs for a diverse range of clients and has recently focused on projects involving incorporations, business restructures, and tax disputes. With a particular interest in residency matters, Saffron is dedicated to building strong client relationships that provide long-term support and guidance.
Outside of work, Saffron enjoys staying active at the gym and spending quality time with family and friends.
Tia is the newest rising star at Black Fox, embarking on her exciting accountancy journey with passion and determination. After leaving school, Tia quickly earned her Business Administrator Level 3 qualification, which led her to a role at a property management company where she honed her skills. In May 2024, Tia took the plunge and joined Black Fox, eager to dive into the world of finance.
Now fully immersed in learning the ropes, Tia is mastering bookkeeping, preparing quarterly VAT returns, preparing statutory accounts and assisting with financial audits. She’s also now on the fast track to becoming a qualified accountant as she studies for her AAT qualification.
Outside of her budding career, Tia is a vibrant personality who loves spending time with family and friends, attending music festivals and traveling to new places. Whether she’s balancing the books or getting lost exploring, Tia brings enthusiasm and energy to everything she does.
